Death Overview

The Death Card is a card of transformation, renewal and change. Contrary to popular belief, this is not a bad card and it does not necessarily indicate an actual physical death. When I see this card in a reading it is always a welcome energy. It means that one is transitioning from one phase to another. Getting rid of what is not working or useful in order to make room for something new that embodies improved possibilities. Looking at this card,

Death is represented by a skeleton, the only part of the physical human body that survives the process of death. He rides in with a black flag, indicating the lack of light. The white flower on the flag is representative of purity by its color. Death is thought to be the purifier of all things. And the discord in ages of everyone in this card (men, women, and children) lets us know that death is an equal opportunity employer. He does not discriminate.
