Opening Your Gift: The Magic of thinking Small

Your Gift

Create Change!

There are times in life where everyone feels dissatisfied with the general state of affairs. Perhaps it’s on a personal level where every day seems the same and you feel like you’re always just struggling to get by. Maybe it’s on a bigger platform where you’re having trouble dealing with the current state of affairs of the world. Whatever it is, we all experience these emotions and thoughts at some point in our lives. If this is the head space you currently find yourself in, my question to you is this: Are you using and sharing your gift to create change?

Right now it’s important for everyone to take a moment and discover what makes us special as individuals. Our gift is the one thing that we can do better than anyone else!  And we need to open this part of ourselves up and share it with others.  Some of us are great teachers, some of us make the best pie anyone has ever tasted, some of us are talented musicians, some of us are master mechanics and some of us are excellent with numbers. If you can put up drywall better than anyone you know – then you take that gift and run with it! It doesn’t matter what it is. It only matters that you find it.

If you’re still completely stumped at this point, an easy way to find out where your talents lie is to ask your friends. They often see you more clearly than you see yourself.  You might be using your gift already without realizing it.

Your gift has the ability to positively affect people. Your gift can entertain, it can comfort and it can inspire. It can care for others; it can keep them safe or help them learn. Whatever it is, you can use it. Even if it’s challenging or if you encounter setbacks at the beginning. Don’t give up! Fine tuning a gift can sometimes take a little time and that’s ok. It’s called learning patience and building character.

If you want to see some change in your world, this is where it starts. If we have a lot of people doing something even on a small scale, that movement builds. And the momentum from it could easily prompt the bigger changes we have been hoping for on an external or internal level.

Unfortunately people often view life from a place that says in order to create change, something needs to happen on a massive scale.  And that’s exactly where we have been going wrong. We need to stop thinking big and start thinking small. But most importantly, we need to start opening our gifts.

So as we slide into 2018 – I challenge you to do something incredible!  Put it on your bucket list, vision board, to-do list or appointment book. Even if you share your gift even once, consider the impact that could have.

If you don’t know where to start or what you are good at, go back to basics. Many less than fortunate people find themselves without food, shelter, warm clothes or medical attention. There are abused women in shelters who need help starting over because they had to leave everything behind. Others this year have been victims of hurricanes, floods and fires who need all sorts of assistance. These people need everything. So whatever you have to offer it will be helpful to them in some way. Beyond these situations there are thousands of other worthy causes and human beings that need you. Decide what calls to you and go from, there.

This month, wherever you are…I hope you will finally feel inspired enough to open your gift. We are stronger together than we are apart.
